Please read these Terms and Conditions (“Terms”, “Terms and Conditions”) carefully before using the www.f-bom.com website, including but not limited to the F-BOM Feminist Book of the Month subscription service, exclusive videos, and “Ask the Author” areas (“the Service”), operated by F-BOM (“us”, “we”, or “our”).

Your access to and use of the Service is conditioned on your acceptance of and compliance with these Terms. These Terms apply to all visitors, users, and others who access or use the Service.

By accessing or using the Service you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you disagree with any part of the terms then you may not access the Service.

MEMBERSHIP

You are considered a member of the F-BOM community if you have purchased a membership from the F-BOM website. Members will be required to choose a unique username and create a password. This membership also includes the ability to pose questions to the F-BOM author and read F-BOM author blog posts. Anyone who is not a member of F-BOM may not read F-BOM author blog posts or pose questions to the F-BOM author. Your username and password are for your use alone. Do not share this information with anyone else.

You do not need to be a member to sign up for the newsletter. All you need is a valid email address.

PURCHASES

If you wish to purchase any product or service made available through the Service (“purchase”), you may be asked to supply certain information relevant to your Purchase including, without limitation, your credit card, debit card, or Stripe information. If you purchase any physical materials, such as a subscription that involves a paper copy of the Feminist Book of the Month (“BOM”), you will be required to supply an address where you can receive a package.

SUBSCRIPTIONS

F-BOM’s services are billed on a subscription basis (“subscription(s)”). You will be billed upon purchase of a membership, and then on the 1st of the month until such time as you choose to cancel membership. E-book memberships are billed monthly on the 1st and print memberships are billed quarterly (January 1st, April 1st, July 1st, October 1st). 

CANCELLATIONS AND REFUNDS

You may cancel your membership at any time. F-BOM does not provide refunds. If you choose to cancel your membership and delete your account, the copies of the books you have downloaded or received in the mail are yours to keep forever.

CONTENT

The website associated with our Service allows you to post, link, store, share and otherwise make available certain information, text, graphics, videos, or other material (“content”). You are responsible for the content you post. F-BOM is dedicated to providing a harassment-free website experience for everyone, regardless of gender, gender identity and expression, sexual orientation, disability, physical appearance, body size, race, age, geographic location, linguistic ability, or religion. We do not tolerate harassment of website members in any form. Members violating these rules may be sanctioned or expelled from membership without a refund at the discretion of the F-BOM staff.

Harassment includes, but is not limited to:

  • Comments that reinforce social structures of domination related to gender, gender identity and expression, sexual orientation, disability, physical appearance, body size, race, age, religion, geographic origin, or linguistic ability

  • Sexual images or commentary in spaces not specifically dedicated to discussions of sexual content

  • Deliberate intimidation, stalking, or following

  • Sustained disruption of threads dedicated to specific subjects

  • Unwelcome sexual attention or comments

  • “Dogpiling” – encouraging members to band together to harass a specific individual or group

  • “Trolling” or “playing devil’s advocate” in a way that is intended solely to disrupt a discussion

  • Advocating for, or encouraging, any of the above behavior

In addition, certain things are not allowed in the forums ever:

  • Flashing graphics, such as animated GIFs, as these are an epilepsy and migraine hazard

  • Protected content, i.e., someone’s locked Facebook post or tweets, provided it is not your own and you do not have permission to post the protected content

  • Anything illegal under the laws of the state of Minnesota, where F-BOM is based

ENFORCEMENT

Anyone found to be violating the content and harassment rules will be asked to stop immediately. Should you continue violating the content and harassment rules, you will be banned from the website by a moderator, and should you commit a further violation after having your ability to post on the website reinstated, your membership will be cancelled without refund.

REPORTING

If you want to report harassment of yourself or another individual, please email us at info@f-bom.com. Please include as many details as possible so we can locate the harassment and deal with it as soon as possible. If you submit an anonymous report, we cannot follow up with you, but we will fully investigate it and take whatever action is necessary to prevent a recurrence.

You will not be asked to confront anyone and we will not disclose your identity as the person who made the report, legal or pseudonymous, without your express permission.

INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY

The F-BOM website, the Her Story Arc blog, their logos, and all content provided on the website is the intellectual property under copyright or trademark of F-BOM. Novels and other material hosted on our website related to the subscription service are the intellectual property of the author. Any material you post in the website must be yours to post, whether because it is your own intellectual property or through the Fair Use exception to copyright doctrine, or with proper attribution and permission of the intellectual property holder, if necessary. Excerpts from the BOM for book discussion purposes are explicitly allowed.

Your copies of the e-books will be provided to you without Digital Rights Management (“DRM”) software. However, these copies are provided to you and you alone. Do not violate the author’s intellectual property rights by copying the book and providing it to someone else. F-BOM is dedicated to promoting works by women, and pirating their book is against our core values, in addition to being illegal.

Should you be found to be violating the intellectual property rights of anyone on the Service, including but not limited to F-BOM itself, the authors, or any other member, you will be given one opportunity to take down or correct the offending material. If the correction is not made within a reasonable period of time, the length of which will be determined by the F-BOM staff, your membership will be cancelled with no refund.

Should you be found pirating any of the BOMs, your membership will be cancelled immediately with no refund. Neither F-BOM nor the author forecloses any further legal action regarding this type of matter.

PRIVACY POLICY

Except where required for postal services and financial processing, F-BOM will not require use of a legal name. F-BOM will also not sell, disclose, or distribute your personal information, including email address, physical address, or financial information to any third party unless required to do so for processing of payment or subscriptions. F-BOM will never ask you for your password and will only delete information you post on our forums if it violates the Content or Intellectual Property terms listed above.

LINKS TO OTHER WEB SITES

Our Service may contain links to third-party web sites or services that are not owned or controlled by F-BOM. F-BOM has no control over, and assumes no responsibility for, the content, privacy policies, or practices of any third party web sites or services. These include the personal blogs of authors associated with F-BOM. You further acknowledge and agree that F-BOM shall not be responsible or liable, directly or indirectly, for any damage or loss caused or alleged to be caused by or in connection with use of or reliance on any such content, goods or services available on or through any such web sites or services.

CHANGES

We reserve the right, at our sole discretion, to modify or replace these Terms at any time. If a revision is material we will try to provide at least 30 days’ notice prior to any new terms taking effect. What constitutes a material change will be determined at our sole discretion.
