Join us as we dig into Crimson Mage and ask author Dorothy Dreyer questions about her process, her characters, the plot, and everything in between. 
Who is your favorite character of your own?
My favorite character is a queen regent from my Curse of the Phoenix series. Her name is Maescia, but she goes by Lady Maescia, and she’s powerful and direct and ruthless. But perhaps not everything is as it seems with her. You’ll have to read that series to find out.
What’s your favorite place to write?
Anywhere that’s quiet. I do enjoy writing in a notebook by a pool, if I happen to have the occasion to be near one, but I have to admit that I get distracted and just want to swim or nap. I do half my writing at my computer in my office at home and the other half on my living room couch, old school, with a notebook and a variety of colored pens.
Can you tell us anything about Mayhara’s endgame? Do you know what you want for her at the end of the series?
Her ultimate goal is to save her family. Of course, she’s going to have to save the world in order to do that. Her loyalty is to the empire, so she’ll do what needs to be done in order to ensure the safety of the empress, but she’s got some heavy battles to endure and some surprises waiting for her in the wings. I know what I want for all the mages at the end of the series, I just hope I can give my ideas due diligence.
